Spencer Daniel Bell tragically passed-away on December 3rd, 2006 just eleven days after learning that he had a 7.5” tumor in his abdomen area...and just five days after learning that it was Adrenal Cancer. He was only twenty years old.
Through this website we’re hoping to honor Spencer’s many talents as an artist, poet, lyricist, singer and composer by using his gifts to help bring attention and contributions to the University of Michigan Adrenal Cancer Clinic in Ann Arbor.
Adrenal Cancer is only one of thousands of “orphan diseases” that do not get a lot of press or attention due to their rarity. Striking only two or three hundred Americans per year, it is not a “common - enough” cancer to generate the headlines and interest of some other, more prevalent diseases. Still, Adrenal Cancer is painfully representative of the mountains of work that yet needs to be done in order to understand and, possibly, cure or even prevent this and other rare and deadly cancers in the future.
That is why we encourage you to link over to the University of Michigan’s Comprehensive Cancer Center - to learn more of the wonderful advances being made in all areas of Cancer research and, in particular, the one that took our son, brother and friend Spencer Daniel Bell.
If you weren't able to make it to the concert or silent auction, we ask that you’ll consider making a donation to the University of Michigan’s Adrenal Cancer Program in Spencer Bell’s name. Your generosity will come back to you a thousand-fold. It always does!
It was indeed a "One in a Million Night" on September 7th when over 750 people joined together at the Royal Oak Music Theatre for an evening of live and silent auction bidding and, of course, great music.
Overall, the night pulled in nearly $70,000 for the University of Michigan's Adrenal Cancer Research efforts, bringing the total contributions in Spencer's name since his passing last December 3rd to over $80,000!!! An amazing number thanks to the generosity, love and caring of so many amazing people. Read the whole thing...
